Share Your Story - Ectopic Pregnancy & Miscarriages
Were you denied prompt treatment of your ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage?
A little known problem is endangering the lives of women: some hospitals and health care providers refuse to provide prompt treatment according to the standard of care to women experiencing miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. These providers consider any treatment that would end the pregnancy to be an abortion, even if there is no medical treatment that would allow the pregnancy to continue, and even when delaying treatment endangers a woman’s health or life.
In an effort to improve treatment of serious pregnancy complications, we want to get a better idea of what patients experience when they seek treatment. If you went to a hospital or other health care provider with symptoms of miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy, even if you were not treated there, then you qualify for this survey.
We understand that this survey touches on a sensitive matter and asks you to look back on an extremely difficult time in your life. All responses, including your name, the hospital or doctor where you sought care, and your treatment outcome will be kept strictly confidential. Your responses are very important to this effort. Although we ask for the specific name of the hospital or health care provider, results will be reported only by the type of health care provider (for example, community health center, private doctor’s office, for-profit or non-profit hospital, or religiously-affiliated hospital).
