Tell Your Members of Congress to Fix the Sequester

Just before Members of Congress headed home (many on airplanes), they quickly passed a bill to prevent long delays at airports — delays caused by the draconian federal budget cuts known as the "sequester," including furloughs of air traffic controllers.

What about fixing the rest of the sequester, especially the cuts to essential services for low-income women and their families? We're talking about cuts that hurt more — much more — than a flight delay. These are cuts that harm the most vulnerable Americans across the country — especially women and children.

Head start, child care assistance, meals on wheels, women's health care services, and services for survivors of domestic violence are facing cuts. Thousands of women's jobs are at risk from cuts to education and other public services. And women who already have lost their jobs and depend on federal emergency unemployment benefits to make ends meet as they search for work are seeing those benefits cut.

It's time to stop the sequester. Tell your Members of Congress to fix it NOW!
