NWLC URGES SEBELIUS CONFIRMATION

(Washington, DC)  Marcia Greenberger, Co-President of the National Women's Law Center, urged the confirmation of Kathleen Sebelius to be Secretary for Health and Human Services at the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).  Her statement follows:

“The Secretary of HHS oversees eleven sub-agencies, many of which are responsible for services and the development of policies and positions of paramount importance to women and their families. As a result, it is critical for the individual who leads HHS to make meeting the needs of women and children a priority for the Department.

“We believe that Governor Sebelius is superbly qualified for the position. She has a strong record demonstrating that she understands the needs of women – including in health care, early education, and many other programs that she will be responsible for administering at HHS.

“The National Women’s Law Center offers its strong support of Governor Sebelius to be Secretary of HHS, and urges the Committee to approve her nomination quickly.”
