The National Women’s Law Center – a preeminent women’s rights legal advocacy group with a $14 million budget and $15 million endowment – is seeking a Development Associate to join its busy Development team to provide foundation fundraising support.

The Development Associate assists the Center’s grant writers in preparing foundation fundraising proposals, reports, budgets, and related attachments.  Specific responsibilities include: acknowledging foundation donations; maintaining the Raiser’s Edge database; researching foundation prospects; coordinating mailings to foundation donors; maintaining foundation files; tracking deadlines and managing the foundation grants calendar; proofreading; drafting original documents; and assisting with the Center’s annual dinner (one of the largest in DC) and other fundraising initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree. Prefer applicants with 1-2 years experience, extraordinary attention to detail and critical thinking skills, an interest in women’s rights issues, excellent written and oral communications skills, and exceptional organizational skills. Must have positive attitude, sense of humor and be a team player who can work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Experience in database maintenance, Raiser’s Edge, foundation fundraising, donor relations, and acknowledgments a plus.

Salary commensurate with experience. The Center offers excellent benefits, including pre-tax flexible spending accounts for medical, dependent care, and transportation, and four weeks of annual vacation.
