Are You an Emerging Leader?

by Megan Tackney, Program Associate,
National Women's Law Center

Are you dedicated to helping low-income women and their families? Do you advocate on behalf of child care, early education, gender equity in education, dropout prevention, and career and technical education? Are you working to protect women’s access to comprehensive, affordable, high-quality health care and reproductive rights? Do you focus on economic issues affecting women and their families? If so, we want you!

The NWLC Progressive Leadership and Advocacy Network (PLAN) program is now accepting applications for our 2010 PLAN training. The PLAN program supports a diverse group of emerging advocacy leaders working to make positive change for low-income women and their families.

Each year, 20 emerging policy and advocacy leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to working to improve the lives of low-income women are selected, on a competitive basis, to become PLAN participants. The PLAN program experience helps participants become more effective advocates by strengthening their leadership and advocacy skills and in-depth policy knowledge.

This year’s 2010 Spring Institute will be held from 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 5 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Mt. Washington Conference Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

Apply today at www.nwlc.org/plan.
