I sat in the Senate Gallery last Wednesday with some incredible coalition partners and colleagues, watching the Senate vote on the Paycheck Fairness Act. It was difficult to watch a few Senators stand in the way of moving the bill forward after years of work, the support of nearly 400 organizations, and thousands of phone calls.
But the fight is not over. Later that day, myself, NWLC Co-President Marcia Greenberger, Lilly Ledbetter, and a handful of partners leading the charge for fair pay went to the White House to meet with President Obama and some of his senior staff following the vote.

President Obama speaks with Marcia Greenberger and fair pay advocates.
The President’s message was simple — though the Paycheck Fairness vote was certainly a disappointment, we must continue on. And he’s right: we will achieve equality, no matter how long it takes.
Finally, as I reflect upon the vote, I am most grateful for the enormous amount of support from activists across the country. And one thing is certain: we will not give up. Here at the National Women’s Law Center, we won’t rest until equal pay is a reality for women. Take the pledge to stand with us: Women are Not WorthLess!
