National Women's Law Center Deeply Concerned by HHS Decision on Plan B
(Washington, D.C.) The National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) responded today to the announcement that the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) overruled a decision by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to expand over-the-counter availability of the morning-after contraception Plan B One Step.
The following is a statement from Marcia D. Greenberger, Co-President of the National Women’s Law Center:
“The National Women’s Law Center is deeply concerned about the decision by the Secretary of Health and Human Services to overrule the FDA on the availability of Plan B and the resulting harm to young women whose access to needed health care will continue to be impeded. It is extremely unfortunate that FDA’s expert medical and scientific judgment did not prevail.”
