Plan B Announcement Means Expanded Access to Safe and Effective Birth Control
(Washington, D.C.) The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a statement filed in court on Monday night indicating that it will drop its appeal to block over-the-counter availability of Plan B One-Step for all women and girls.
The following statement is from Marcia D. Greenberger, Co-President of the National Women’s Law Center:
“This announcement means that women, regardless of age, will soon be able to buy Plan B One-Step, a safe and effective form of ‘morning-after’ birth control, without a prescription. The National Women’s Law Center applauds this landmark development, which will expand access to birth control to those who need it, when they need it.
“Moving forward, the Center will continue to urge the FDA to make all generic morning-after pills similarly available.”
