2. Protecting Health Care Funding in the Federal Budget
Legislation being considered in the U.S. House of Representatives proposes devastating cuts to programs vital to women and their families, including Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. Tara Straw from Health Care for America Now will talk through threats to health care funding including cuts to the premium tax credits that would result in 350,000 fewer people having coverage, allowing states to lower eligibility standards for Medicaid and CHIP, and cutting investments in women’s health by eliminating the Prevention and Public Health Fund.

3. Update on Comments Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) on Women’s Preventive Services
Gretchen Borchelt from the National Women’s Law Center will give a brief update on responding to the ANPRM on women’s preventive services related to an an accommodation for certain religiously affiliated organizations that object to providing contraceptive services with no cost sharing. Comments are due June 19, 2012.
