Danielle Garrett, Health Policy Analyst

Danielle Garrett is a Health Policy Analyst for Health and Reproductive Rights. She has a B.A. from the College of William and Mary in Government and Women’s Studies and a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Texas. She has worked in women’s health and reproductive rights advocacy since college with organizations such as Jane’s Due Process and NARAL Pro-Choice Texas. Danielle enjoys playing guitar, photography, eating seafood, and watching Longhorn football (Hook ‘em!). Once all Americans have access to affordable health care and women’s reproductive rights are secured, she plans to move to the Florida Keys and open a shrimp shack.

This week marks the one year anniversary of the Affordable Care Act. We’ve been celebrating around here all week, and I, for one, couldn’t be happier. The law means women and families will have an easier time accessing affordable quality health care, but I’m also a sucker for any chance to celebrate. I mean, who doesn’t love birthday parties?

The Florida Health Care Ruling: What's at Stake for Women and Families

Yesterday, U.S. District Court Judge Roger Vinson issued a decision on the constitutionality of the new health care law, a decision the National Women’s Law Center believes is wrong and harmful to women and families. Judge Vinson ruled the entire act void.
