Danielle Garrett, Health Policy Analyst

Danielle Garrett is a Health Policy Analyst for Health and Reproductive Rights. She has a B.A. from the College of William and Mary in Government and Women’s Studies and a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Texas. She has worked in women’s health and reproductive rights advocacy since college with organizations such as Jane’s Due Process and NARAL Pro-Choice Texas. Danielle enjoys playing guitar, photography, eating seafood, and watching Longhorn football (Hook ‘em!). Once all Americans have access to affordable health care and women’s reproductive rights are secured, she plans to move to the Florida Keys and open a shrimp shack.

Women's Health Week: A Focus on Mental Health

Today is the last day of women's health week. We kicked of the week talking about Pap Smears and are going to end it talking about mental health, which is probably similar to the order in which most of us think about our health care priorities. We are pretty good about getting our annual exams and go to the doctor if we get sick, but looking out for our mental health is often an afterthought.

It's only been a few short weeks since we were sending you e-mails and writing a flurry of blogs asking you to help defend the new health care law against repeal efforts and defunding attempts.

Raise a Glass to the ACA! Why Young Women Should be Celebrating the Anniversary of the Affordable Care Act

This week marks the one year anniversary of the Affordable Care Act. We’ve been celebrating around here all week, and I, for one, couldn’t be happier. The law means women and families will have an easier time accessing affordable quality health care, but I’m also a sucker for any chance to celebrate. I mean, who doesn’t love birthday parties?
