Letter in Support of Proposed SNAP Eligibility, Certification, and Employment and Training Provisions
On July 5, 2011, the National Women’s Law Center sent a letter to the Food and Nutrition Service at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in support of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Eligibility, Certification, and Employment and Training Provisions proposed rule. Among other provisions, the proposed rule amends the SNAP regulations to eliminate the cap on the deduction for dependent care expenses. The Center commends the Department of Agriculture for this proposed rule change, which has the potential to greatly expand access to benefits for low-income families.
