Women are Worrywarts- For Good Reason
Marcia Greenberger, Co-President,
National Women's Law Center

Hi, I'm Marcia Greenberger, and I'm Co-President at the National Women's Law Center. You've been reading about the really important poll that we've just released that goes into quite a bit of detail about the kinds of issues that really matter to women today, and the concerns that they feel in being able to deal with their own lives and to be support for their families as well. We were struck when we looked at the poll about some of the differences between men and women, and while certainly men are feeling an economic pinch today, women are even more stressed, are facing even more insecurity, and are concerned and looking to the government for solutions to the problems that they face.

Our blog talks a lot about the differences between men and women. But I wanted to spend just a minute telling you about an area where actually it turns out men and women are pretty much on the same page. Interestingly enough, 62% of women and actually 64% of men do not want Roe v. Wade overturned. That is a pretty resounding number. So with a lot of the economic security, insecurity, concern about healthcare, about good jobs, about problems of poverty, retirement security, educational opportunity for girls and women. At the same time, women and men do not want to see basic rights like Roe v. Wade overturned, want judges and justices who will support long-standing equal opportunity protections and privacy protections for women, and that for the National Women's Law Center is pretty good news. We hope that you'll look at our poll, and thanks very much for all of your interest.
