Alex Braha (she/her) is the Chief Operating Officer for NWLC, leading finance, human resources, IT and operations. She joined NWLC’s staff in August 2023 after nearly a year in interim contract leadership roles. Alex’s background in management and operations spans sectors, including nonprofits, multinational corporations, government agencies, and educational institutions. Throughout her career she has established and led teams through innovative and unprecedented projects, guiding the start-up phases for new foundations and nonprofits, rebranding companies, leading shifts in organizational strategies, and driving crisis and risk management.
Since 2019 Alex provided COO and Chief of Staff contract services to a wide range of U.S.-based clients, guiding strategic operations and financial planning, and serving as a trusted and versatile thought partner to executives. Alex was the COO and Chief of Staff at a logistics and transportation firm, taking it from a startup delivery service provider with seven employees to a regional full-service transportation leader with 150 staff. Previously, she was Vice President and Chief of Staff at a DC-based international political risk firm, leading engagement efforts with the U.S. Government for NGOs, multinational corporations, and foreign political leaders.
Alex has an M.A. in International Security with a concentration in Homeland Security and Emergency Management from the University of Denver and a B.A. in Philosophy-Public Affairs from George Washington University. She volunteers with Shenandoah Mountain Rescue Group as a Search Team Leader and is on the Board of Directors at Coalition for a Safer Web.
