Share Your Story: Have you faced pregnancy discrimination in the workplace?
Courts have created a pregnancy loophole that allows many employers to refuse to accommodate even simple requests to help workers maintain healthy pregnancies. Pregnant women have been fired because they asked to avoid heavy lifting, or to stay off ladders, or to sit on a stool instead of standing at a cash register all day. It happens a lot. Maybe it happened to you.
Did your employer refuse to make simple modifications that you needed because of your pregnancy? Did you lose your job? Were you forced to take unpaid leave? Or did you just decide to ignore your doctor's advice so you could keep working? Please tell us about it. Don't worry, we understand that this is personal. We will follow up with you if we are interested in sharing your story with Members of Congress, press, etc.

I was first denied unemployment. After the hearing with the Georgia Department of Labor, I won my case. It was determined that I was fired due to medical restrictions. I then went to the EEOC, where i have documentation on paper, that I was fired. I was told that the company did fire me. The GM admitted that I had to reapply to come back to work. And that I was seperated from the company. The company never gave me FMLA and I was at that time 3months pregnant. I begged the GM to let me work. I have NEVER in my life been so humiliated. I hope no one ever go through what I went through. I ended up homeless and at the Salvation Army while pregnant. My child was born prematurely because of all the stress. She has a therapist that comes to the house to deal with her disabilities. This was and still is a bad situation. I would like to get my story out in the open, to help other young women.

For years, parents include was battling using the issue associated with precisely conceive a boy. This is because, practically in most ethnicities, a new guy heir can be recommended. While it's not accurately fair to help females,it's really a fact associated with life. If you and your partner want to know how to have a baby a new young man normally, there are various associated with factors you have to know concerning.

My story is just a tiny bit different because my manager is well known for being a moody, controlling, bitter person and the company I work at does have a history of letting employees with expensive medical issues (Cancer, back surgery, heart surgery etc.) go during their struggles. Each employee was given an excuse that did not involve their medical conditions. It was kept nice and legal, such as 'taking too much time of work', that was one of their popular termination reasons. So I work in not so great conditions to begin with but it wasn't unbearable until after I announced my pregnancy.I’m not perfect and I do make mistakes just like everyone else. If they would have simply used the “taking too much time off of work” reason on me, I wouldn’t be happy of course but it would have been much better and easier to deal with than what they have decided instead to do. Suddenly after eight years here and oddly enough right after I announced my pregnancy and after I had several spread out days that I had to take off for pregnancy related illness ... I'm suddenly not only not a good, decent or ok employee anymore but instead I'm an absolutely horrible, lying stealing cheating and lazy employee according to one manager. She claims the company doesn't trust me and they have meetings specifically about me (I know that is 100% a false statement), everyone is afraid of me (another false statement) and she has much, much more. Of course the HR department backs her completely and even has one of its employees spread rumors to other employees in other departments about me, and both managers refuse to even look at paperwork backing up my claims of innocence against the bitter manager’s false accusations. Now she is being allowed to openly treat me like dirt and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it. Going to work for a bitter, bully each day, having my character chopped at with nasty evil lies and being yelled at every day is horrible and stressful. But “luckily” due to this company’s history with employees costing them more medically that others, I expect if I don't voluntarily quit soon, I will be let go soon solely based on whatever this manager decides to say about me regardless of if I can prove she's lying [again] or not.

, MN,
I work at McDonalds. Ever since I told my store manager I was prgnant she has treated me like crap. She cut my hours from 5 days a week to one or two, and eventually wiped me out of the system. So i wasn't even listed as an employee. I picked up shifts though and she claimed to not know what happened, promising she would fix it. She never did. i get really bad back aches while there because I have to be on my feet the whole time. There are no positions where I would be able to sit down. I told her that daback back booth (taking money ion Drive Thru) was the worst because all you do is stand in one place and it made my back hurt really bad. After that I was put in back booth every time. I was not given any special treatment. The last day I worked it was very hot in the store. I was "presenting" which means handing food out of the Drive Thru. The drinks are on one side, the food on another, and the window on another, so I am constantly turning in circles to get the order together and then hand it out. This plus the heat made me very dizzy. I hadn't gotten a drink in a while and there was only one order so I grabbed some water. My manager told me I couldn't drink at that time bectire it was rush hour. I ignored her because there was only one order and there had never been rules against drinking. She sent me home after I told her I needed water in order to not pass out. She proceeds to tell me that working with me is annoying because I'm pregnant and that I work under her so she doesn't have to accommodate me. I told her I have medical needs and she argued with me saying it wasn't medical. I told her if my medical needs couldn't be met then I no longer worked there, and as I was walking out she pushed me by my shoulder. But now is telling everyone I dumped water on her because she fired me and I'm mad so I'm lying about being pushed.
