My Health Is NOT Up for Debate: Hurdles
In 2011, states across the nation enacted 92 new restrictions on abortion, the highest number ever. Today, overreaching politicians are continuing to jeopardize women's health by trying to force them to undergo invasive and unnecessary transvaginal ultrasounds and giving fertilized eggs legal rights. This dangerous trend is echoed in Congress, where lawmakers are trying to erect dangerous hurdles for women to jump over to get the reproductive health care they need.
Women are fighting back. They drew a line in the sand in Mississippi, where voters defeated a fetal personhood amendment. In Virginia, women organized to block a harmful ultrasound bill. Women everywhere are mobilizing to tell their lawmakers: "our health is NOT up for debate!"
The "Hurdles" video depicts these new state restrictions with 92 hurdles, each printed with a law or regulation targeting women's reproductive health care.
