Share Your Story - Ectopic Pregnancy & Miscarriages
A little known problem is endangering the lives of women: some hospitals and health care providers refuse to provide prompt treatment according to the standard of care to women experiencing miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. These providers consider any treatment that would end the pregnancy to be an abortion, even if there is no medical treatment that would allow the pregnancy to continue, and even when delaying treatment endangers a woman’s health or life. In an effort to improve treatment of serious pregnancy complications, we want to get a better idea of what patients experience when they seek treatment.
Share Your Story - Health Care Providers & Pregnancy Complications
A growing body of evidence shows that some Catholic hospitals are interfering with providers' ability to give prompt treatment to women with miscarriages or ectopic pregnancies according to the medical standard of care. The purpose of the National Women’s Law Center's survey is to identify medical providers who have been required to alter their preferred course of treatment because of their hospital's policies or practices. We are also interested in identifying providers who may have treated patients who had been denied treatment at another hospital.
